Stop Funding Special Interest Groups

  • Share

Here is a sample letter that was submitted to the mayor regarding the funding of special interest groups. Read the letter and be sure to follow up with a letter that emphasizes the importance of not subsidizing special interest groups. An emphasis on the importance of people supporting only what they want to support instead of allowing tax payer money to fund organizations is important, especially in a time when taxes are being hiked to ridiculous levels, that make it harder and harder for the lower paid citizens of Calgary to make ends meet.

Dear Sir,

The reason for my letter is because like many other citizens in Calgary I am concerned about the ever increasing tax burden on hard working families. One suggestion we have at Concerned Christians Canada (CCC) is to review the City Of Calgary Family & Community Support Services (F.C.S.S) in it's entirety and eliminate any funding to interest groups.

One group funded by the city of Calgary is the CBCA a group promoting abortion and the homosexual lifestyle. I encourage you to take a good look at their website www.cbca.ab.ca and I think you will be quite alarmed. Below you will find a recent media release about our position.

I am sure you are aware that Calgary has more churches and Christian organizations per capita than any other City in Canada. Calgary is a God fearing City in the heart of Canada’s Bible belt. Needless to say, I was completely shocked to see an organization such as CBCA is funded by the City Of Calgary F.C.S.S.

I am sure that you as a fellow Christian and others on council were just simply unaware that these types of groups are taking from the public purse. However, this information begs the following questions to be asked and I would appreciate a response.

  1. Did You know that this type of funding was going on?
  2. Does Council approve this funding?
  3. How is the funding granted?
  4. Are you in favour of the CBCA funding?
  5. What other organizations are funded by the City Of Calgary?
  6. Will you move to eliminate the funding of all interst groups such as the CBCA?

It is time we look at needs and wants and make the neccessary cuts in the right areas.

Looking forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Jim Blake

All glory goes to the living God, maker of the heavens and the earth, for He alone is worthy of all glory and honor and praise. I consider the sufferings of this age not worthy to be compared to what is to come for those who place their faith in the King of kings and persevere in faith, day by day, until the end.

For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

Psalm 103:11-18
